When waste cannot be prevented or recycled, recovering its energy content is in most cases preferable to landfilling it, in both environmental and economic terms. Treatment of waste with recovery of generated energy, or simply, the waste-to-energy technique, is gaining more and more interest in Central Asia. Thus, the WECOOP project organised this workshop to consider advantages and disadvantages of this waste management solution, as well as to discuss its possible application in Central Asia along with mechanisms for financing the waste management projects.

Presentations

Session 2: IFIs’ and donors’ co-financing of waste management / waste-to-energy projects

Session 3: Waste-to-energy: regional dimension
