The Fifth EU–Central Asia High Level Conference on Environment and Water cooperation was organised within the framework of the Platform for Environment and Water Cooperation of the EU-Central Asia strategy adopted in 2007. The discussions focused on progress review and the medium to long-term outlook for the on-going thematic cooperation between the European Union and the countries of Central Asia.
The Conference’s final document – a Joint Communiqué – was endorsed based on a unanimous consensus, which was reached following several months of consultations. The Communiqué outlines areas where the EU–Central Asia political and technical cooperation could have the highest impact on policies ensuring the environmental, water and climate resilience of the region’s economic growth.
