Experts of the European Union project “WECOOP” and national experts of the Department of Urban Development and Architecture of the Bishkek City Mayor’s Office discussed the XXI century trends in urban planning in the framework of expert support to Kyrgyzstan on preparation of terms of reference for the Bishkek City General Plan. The terms of reference will aim at ensuring the rational and careful use of urban spaces, preservation of natural landscapes, development of comfortable public transportation, increase of urban mobility, and creation of a system of convenient public spaces – while maintaining the city’s authenticity and identity.
WECOOP Senior Expert Mrs Zane Koroļa presented the European experience in sustainable municipal improvement, development of eco-districts and “green” cities, where the residents’ well-being and health are above all.
